Mother Tongue - Modern Asian Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
Good mix of bar and restaurant. All the food I've had has been great and the staff are super friendly. It's close by so I've been a few times and the owner is always around and very accommodating. Nicest bar in the area by far.
The food was phenomenal, I'm still thinking about it the next day. Order several entrees and share with friends. The cocktails are creative, some drinks are a twist on old classics, and others are unlike any drink I've tried before.
Mother Tongue is tucked away speakeasy-style in the recesses below the Templar Hotel. The menu is focused on share plates and has an Asian backbone, with strong Filipino, Chinese, Japanese and also North American influences.
Templar Hotel's new two-floor eatery is a love letter to Filipino cuisine from a pair of Bar Buca alumni.
The bar also customized a drink for me as they didn't have any gin based drinks on the menu, and it was good. The bartender also seemed very knowledgable as he recommended for us to try a few different kinds of gin next time based on what we had liked.
