by Nikkei Voice, 11/1/2005

Toronto - The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto screened two episodes of Susan Poizner's Mother Tongue documentary series on October 26 at 7.30pm. The episodes screened were "Kimiko Murakami: Triumph Over Internment" and the Rwandan episode "Juliet Karugahe: Between Two Worlds."

Susan Poizner and Juliet Karugahe attended the screening for a Q&A, at which Poizner expressed her passion for cultures leading to the creation of the series.

Mother Tongue will be broadcast in Vancouver on Channel M starting in January 2006. There will also be a screening of the Kimiko Murakami episode, alongside the Chinese episode about Mary Lee Chan, at a launch and the Vancouver Museum on January 12, 2006.
